Description: BUCHLOV and ŽARNOV in Vtáčnik Mountains ...
The touristically very attractive rocky peak BUCHLOV lies in the side ridge of Vtáčnik and rises to 1041 m a.s.l. It represents a typical example of volcanism, where impressive andesite rocks can be observed, remnants of former volcanic activity. From the rocky summit of Buchlov equipped with a metal double cross, a beautiful circular panorama opens up. In addition to the surrounding peaks of the Vtáčnik Mountains, one can observe, for example, the characteristically bent Little Fatra Kľak or the highest peak of the Tribeč Mountains, Veľký Tribeč. The summit area, as well as the southern and western slopes of Buchlov, lie within the eponymous nature reserve with rare forest and rock fauna and flora.
