Description: The best hike in Sedona you've probably never heard of....
Capitol Butte (also known as Thunder Mountain) has to be one of the best hikes in Sedona. It's also, in our opinion, the hardest hike in Sedona: The Capitol Butte trail is mostly a class 3 scramble that climbs over 2,000FT to the summit, which provides you with hands down the best views in Sedona. Plus, because this is one of the hardest hikes in Sedona, Capitol Butte does not see nearly as much traffic as some of the other extremely crowded, popular trails in Sedona like Devil's Bridge or Airport Mesa. So, if you're looking for an awesome, challenging, and un-crowded hike in Sedona, Capitol Butte is the one for you. Just make sure to come prepared with a GPS for route finding and be ready for a good amount of class 3 scrambling. We used the All Trails GPS which was a life-saver, but it isn't perfect. Happy hiking!
