Reaching the summit of Monte Palon is like taking a dive into history, as it was a strategic frontline position in the Great War with many testimonies... from the Tempio del Canova in Possagno, a short asphalt stretch leads to trail 195 which steadily climbs along Val della Chiesa to join 212 from Castel Cesil... continue left to the cross and bell and along the Percorso della Memoria which allows visiting 1,000 meters of trenches, 300 meters of galleries and some barracks and positions restored thanks to commendable work by Alpini, friends, enthusiasts and volunteers as well as various Entities and Associations... impossible not to think of those who lived and fought here in unimaginable conditions... continuing on 212 along the ridge to the tiny church on Cima della Mandria... return retracing to Bocca di Forca and descend trail 189 back to the parking.
