Description:
The Coventosa Cave is considered the underground cathedral of Cantabria both for its extensive network of galleries (34 km) and for the dimensions of its chambers, whose height often reaches a hundred meters. Connected to the Cueto system, it forms one of the most extensive traversals on the continent; an expert group of speleologists takes more than twenty hours to complete it, not to mention that the initial succession of shafts constitutes an uninterrupted drop of 580 m, the Juhué shaft alone has an absolute vertical of 300 m. In our case, basic mountaineers and only amateur speleologists were content with exploring Coventosa up to the Hall of the Lakes.
