Description: Damavand, a stratovolcano 5610 m high, is the highest mountain peak in Iran and a volcano in Asia. It is located in the Alborz range in the north of the country and in the Iranian province of Mazandaran, about 66 km northeast of Tehran. Damavand plays a significant role in Iranian mythology and is one of the national symbols of the country.
