Description: Eibenstein Castle Ruins A-2094 Eibenstein an der Thaya District: Waidhofen an der Thaya Federal state: Lower Austria Imposingly built on a rock that partially drops steeply towards the Thaya, the noteworthy remains of this rather small castle from the 12th century throne. The castle fell into disrepair from the 16th century due to lack of maintenance. In the 19th century, a large part of the south front collapsed into the Thaya. Nevertheless, the ruins are in a relatively good state of preservation, so one can embark on an exploration tour to view the various buildings, building parts, and wall remnants. Even a relatively well-preserved kitchen building with two round arch openings and a pyramid-shaped chimney is present.
