Description:
The ruins of Esseg Castle are located in the village of Bánd, west of Veszprém. Presumably built around 1270 as a wooden fortress, which was replaced by a stone building in the 14th century. The circumstances of the castle's destruction are unknown, probably destroyed by one of the raiding cavalry units of the Turkish army besieging Veszprém in 1552.
