The fantastic story of Eugenio Monti.
He was the son of Ugo Monti, originally from Auronzo di Cadore, and Adele Fabrizi, born in Carnia. At a young age he moved with his family to Cortina d'Ampezzo and there he continued his studies until scientific maturity[1]. He achieved his first sports successes in 1945 during the student ski championships. Just two years later he was noticed by journalist Gianni Brera who gave him the nickname 'Flying Red' (allusion to hair color and grit) by which he was always known[1].
