Description: The Eastern Kreuzjoch is no summit one must know, moreover the ski summit is completely unspectacular. However, it features a beautiful steep summit slope (up to 42 degrees), which, as long as it still has sun after noon, can nicely crust up. The ascent overall is very scenic and quite demanding - up the Fernpassrinne, which looks impressive from Fernpass and steepens to 37/38 degrees at the top. East side, all in the sun, a bit of a martyrdom - but worth it. If early enough, cross the upper cirques to Tagweidkopf; if too late, the shade in the gully punishes with breakable crust.
