AVALANCHE RESCUE
Have you found your buddy quickly and dug him or her out? Then you’ve already dealt with the first step – but that’s no reason to relax. The consequences of avalanche burial are manifold. Are there any mechanical injuries? Is your companion still breathing? Does he or she have a pulse? Maybe his or her core body temperature has already sunk considerably? Lots of avalanche training programs mention these important issues only in passing, with most not exploring them in depth. It’s now high time you learn what to do after digging your partner out.
