Chiugiana rises on a gentle hill along the provincial road connecting Corciano with state road 75 bis of Trasimeno. In ancient documents it is called “Villa in castro Glociane”. Some believe the name derives from Janus (Clusius Janus), others called it “Chiugiana” as a place crossed by a consular road to “il Chiugi”.
