Description:
High above the Lauterbrunnen Valley on the Mürren viewpoint terrace (1,640 m a.s.l.) begins the scenic klettersteig leading into a steep abyss. Normally, klettersteigs go upwards. In Mürren, however, it goes almost "diretissima" down towards Gimmelwald. 300 elevation meters and 2.2 km of klettersteig are covered in about 3 hours. Klettersteigs, also known as Via Ferrata (Ital.: path of iron or iron path), are an intermediate stage between normal mountain hiking and free climbing.
