Description: The part of the footage concerning the little church is rotated 90°, I apologize for the mishap.
Under the slopes of Monte Tibert, located almost at the end of the wild valley of the same name, Narbona hosted up to 120 families along with 100 domestic animals at the beginning of the 20th century. Inaccessible during winter due to continuous avalanches along the only path starting from Colletto, isolating the inhabitants from the rest of the world. Over the decades it emptied until the last 4 inhabitants left in 1960, tired of living in solitude and of the harshness of winters. The fame of this borgata increased along with its state of abandonment, becoming a true manifesto of mountain life and its depopulation. The inhabitants left their personal effects (especially furniture) inside their homes, unable to transport them downhill due to the nature of the path. Narbona is disappearing devoured by nature and neglect: recovery is highly unlikely if not impossible in the current state of degradation and due to the impossibility of building new access routes (unlike the nearby borgate of Valliera and Campofei, fully under recovery). Every house tells a story of daily life, a slice of mountain life in a place that would be inconceivable for us to live our entire life, showing a very tough life model. Narbona is alive and speaks, making us reflect on our way of living.
