Start is from Pont (1960m) in Valsavarenche, reached by the road from Pré-Saint-Didier when exiting the Mont-Blanc tunnel or descending from Col du Petit-Saint-Bernard.
Unlike its neighboring Vanoise massif across the border, the Italian Grand Paradis massif has its 4000m peak, often considered one of the easiest in the Alps (excluding those quickly accessible by cable car).
