Description:
Start from Passo Pordoi, the pass connecting Arabba, a Venetian hamlet of Livinallongo del Col di Lana, with Canazei in Trentino, at 2239 m a.s.l. The first refuge to reach is Rifugio Forcella Pordoi, reachable in two ways. First, using the cable car from the pass to Rifugio Maria at 2950 m, then descend to the refuge. Second, on foot from the pass following CAI trail 627 to the saddle where the refuge is at 2848 m a.s.l. From Forcella Pordoi, take CAI trail 638: destination Rifugio Capanna Fassa. The trail is always very evident and well-marked due to the large number of tourists and hikers ascending via cable car. However, do not underestimate this trail as there are exposed sections and short "ferratas": at the end, there is an exposed and steep section bordered by a metal cable requiring sure footing. After this short obstacle, reach 3152 m a.s.l. at Rifugio Capanna Fassa on top of Piz Boè. From here, to reach Rifugio Boè at a lower altitude, precisely 2871 m a.s.l., descend the steep scree slope, always a marked trail with signs, on the opposite side of the ascent trail.
