Hike to Rifugio Nuvolau

Description:
The starting point of the itinerary is Passo Falzarego (2110 m), from here take trail no. 441 which gently ascends towards Forcella Averau (2435 m). Pass near the enchanting Lago di Limides and continue to the Forcella. Upon reaching Forcella Averau, pass under the steep walls of Averau still on trail no. 441 until reaching Rifugio Averau (2413 m). Continuing right on the mule track marked no. 439, reach the summit of Nuvolau (2575 m) with the homonymous Rifugio Nuvolau in just over an hour, from where one of the most evocative panoramas of the Dolomites is visible. Descending from Nuvolau on trail no. 441, reach Rifugio Scoiattoli (2255 m) from which you enjoy a wide panorama with the characteristic Cinque Torri in front, Tofana di Rozes to the left, Averau and Nuvolau to the right. Descend from Rifugio Scoiattoli along trail no. 440 through a wood. At the end of the wood, arrive at Pian dei Menìs (2000 m) near the Passo Falzarego road. Ascend along an easy trail following the sign for Passo Falzarego. Reach Rifugio Col Gallina (2060 m).
