Description: For centuries, people have scaled mountains without any safety equipment, a practice known as free soloing. The origins of free soloing are unknown, but the first known solo climb was in 1786 on the Aiguille du Dru in the French Alps. Throughout the years, there have been many famous free solo climbs, such as the first ascent of El Capitan in Yosemite National Park by Warren Harding in 1958. Today, free soloing is still practiced by many people all over the world.
