Description:
Today we're heading to the Berchtesgaden Alps up to Hochkönig, 2,941 m. Starting point is Arthurhaus in Mühlbach am Hochkönig. You can stay overnight excellently there, and do the tour the next day either as a day tour like me, or as a two-day tour with overnight at Matrashaus. The tour is not technically demanding, but very demanding in terms of fitness. With 1,700 meters of elevation gain and almost 24 km hiking time, it's quite massive. I recommend an early start just before sunrise, then you'll enjoy one of the most beautiful panoramas with morning atmosphere at Mitterfeldalm. All in all, the tour to Hochkönig is a landscape feast, unique is the large plain on Hochkönig that seems endless.
