Almond (in Czech mandloňové) orchards in the village Hustopeče are a true rarity in the Czech Republic. The history of almond growing here dates back to the 17th century. At the peak around 1960, more than 50,000 almond trees grew in Hustopeče orchards on 185 hectares.
