Description:
Su Codulone is located in Supramonte di Dorgali, on the border with Oliena in the area of the nuragic village of Tiscali and is a 'tributary' of the underlying Gola di Doloverre. It is a gorge with two faces: one crossing a sort of karst plateau little wooded (less high and close walls) with gentler slopes resembling more an impluvium; and the terminal one characterized by marked verticality with a sequence of two rope descents of about 45 and 51 m (the highest of the gorge). The approach can be from s'Iscala 'e Cocuttos (then following the recently made path that later passes right in the bed, or following the path to Punta Doronè and leaving it for the sheepfolds of su Praicargiu (Praicarzu). The descent does not involve particular problems except for excessive rope friction in the last two verticals. Watch out for falling rocks. If time allows, some cleaning would be appropriate. It is not among my favorite canyons, but at least once it must be done to judge.
