Description: The Great Hafner is a 3076 m above sea level high, lightly glaciated mountain in the Ankogel group on the border between Carinthia and Salzburg. It is the highest elevation of the Lungau as well as the Hafner group between Katschtal (upper Liesertal), Maltatal and Murtal, that subgroup of the Ankogel group in which the easternmost three-thousanders of the Alps are located. The north flank of the Great Hafner has been largely part of Hohe Tauern National Park since 1991.
