Description: The Obir (Slovenian Obir) in Carinthia is the highest mountain massif of the North Karawanks. It peaks at the 2139 m high Hochobir (Slovenian Ojstrc). Other peaks are Kuhberg (2026 m), Kleinobir (1948 m), Vielspitz (1624 m) and Altberg (1552 m). In the eastern part of the massif are the Obir stalactite caves developed as show caves, in the northern part the Wildensteiner waterfall. From 1891 until its destruction in World War II, there was a meteorological station on the summit with the Hannwarte.
