Description:
I was looking for a simple itinerary to take my dad to walk, for the first time, an equipped trail and so I thought of Lagazuoi with its Kaiserjäger trail. Wonderful path in terms of landscape and super interesting also from a historical point of view as, during the Great War, the trail represented the communication route between the valley floor and the Austrian positions at altitude. During the Great War, Lagazuoi was transformed by Austrian soldiers into a real fortress, dotted with galleries and trenches, many of which are still visitable today. These tunnels were dug by the Austrians and Italians during the conflict for control of this mountain located in a strategic point, between the Falzarego pass and the Valparola pass. Famous are also the Lagazuoi Galleries (possibility to descend right from these).
