Video of the beautiful panoramic loop hike to Sella Sissanis and Lago di Bordaglia in a fantastic winter setting. We are in Carnia, near the Austrian border in Forni Avoltri municipality. The hike starts at Pierabech after Goccia di Carnia factory near the marble quarry at about 1150 m, taking CAI 140 trail. Ascend Val Fleons passing the namesake gorge (1400 m), casera Sissanis di sotto (1550 m) at the entrance to rio Sissanis valley, and ruins of casera Sissanis di sopra (1680 m). Then up the valley skirting monte Navagiust (2129 m), important WWI peak dominating rio Fleons, Sissanis, and Bordaglia valleys, key stronghold for Val Degano defense. At valley top, incredible view of Val Fleons (Navstolt, Creta di Fleons, Avanza group). Eastward, Spina Pesce (2053 m) and beautiful Creta di Bordaglia (2169 m) silhouette, beyond Passo Giramondo (2005 m) on Austrian border. Southeast: Cima Ombladet (2255 m), monte Vas (1964 m). West: Sappada mountains (Tuglia, Creta Forata, Cimon, Siera). Below the saddle, Lago Pera snow-covered, between Creta di Bordaglia (2170 m) and Quota Pascoli (2000 m), beyond Volaia mountains massif. Descend to Lago di Bordaglia (1750 m) at Casera Bordaglia di sopra. Continue descent on CAI 142 to alpino fountain, then chapel to Don Bosco and Casera Bordaglia di sotto (1565 m). Back on easy trail to marble quarry. Total elevation gain about 1000 m, 15 km.
