It extends for about 13 km from northwest to southeast, with a perimeter of about 60 km, in the center of the Abruzzo region, between Altopiano delle Rocche to the northwest (Rovere di Rocca di Mezzo), Marsica to the southwest, Valle Subequana to the northeast, Valle Peligna to the south, rapidly descending south towards the Baullo plateau and the Forca Caruso pass (between Aielli and Collarmele).
