Idyllically located on a peninsula of the Kampsee reservoir and built on a rock, this imposing castle ruin is situated. Lichtenfels Castle once lay on a wooded rock spur high above the left bank of the river, but due to the construction of several reservoirs around 1957, it now stands on a flat peninsula in the middle of the Ottenstein Reservoir.
