Description: Every year, about 30,000 people visit the Khumbu, the region where Everest is located, to admire its famous peaks. Some visitors trek between teahouses, traveling alone with a light backpack while a porter carries their personal effects overnight. Others are climbers traveling with a support staff that assists them as they attempt famous peaks like Everest, Lhotse, and Nuptse. Many of these climbers, trekkers, and even their support staff will get sick with altitude-induced illnesses.
