Description: SAKRAKOPEC (430 m a.s.l.) is a locality in the Little Carpathians falling under the cadastre of the town Svätý Jur, where in 1966 the largest aviation tragedy in the history of Slovakia and the Czech Republic occurred. Flight LZ 101 was a regular flight of the Bulgarian-Soviet company TABSO (Транспортно-авиационно българо-съветско общество – "Bulgarian-Soviet Air Transport Company", later Balkan Bulgarian Airlines) from Sofia via Budapest and Prague to Berlin, which crashed on Thursday, November 24, 1966, on the slope of Sakrakopec hill 8 km from the airport in Bratislava, where it had previously made an unplanned landing due to weather conditions. All 82 people on board died in the crash. On the day of the accident, the Iljuschin Il-18V aircraft with registration LZ-BEN was used for flight LZ101, manufactured in January 1964 under production number 7101 and taken over by TABSO on January 22 of the same year. Until the disaster in Slovakia, it had no accidents and was maintained in accordance with the manufacturer's provisions.
