Description: 30-11-2022: From the cemetery of Villanova delle Grotte, take the road to Chialminis but immediately leave it to turn left descending among the houses. Now carefully follow the white-red markers that first on track and then on trail descend to join the asphalted road leading to Borgo Vigant. Reaching the small hamlet, descend right along a stone staircase to a rest point. Here, temporarily leave the main path to visit, still on the right, the entrance to Abisso Vigant, recently equipped with a walkway entering the cave up to where it narrows. Resuming the trail, cross a small ridge then enter the valley of a Cornappo tributary starting a beautiful half-slope traverse among chestnut trees joined by hazels and mountain maples, one of the most beautiful sections of the path. After crossing the stream, which immediately below drops abruptly, the trail regains the asphalted road just before the houses of Borgo di Mezzo. Cross the hamlet continuing downhill to the first hairpin where leave the main road to proceed straight towards Tamar. The marker guides to the lower houses of the small village where the road ends and the path returns to trail, entering the woodland scattered with limestone outcrops and old paths. Following the markers carefully, which are frequent and well placed, ascend diagonally passing a hunting hut then, after a wooded basin, the trail makes further turns on the eastern slope of Monte Pocivalo soon regaining its summit at the batteries. We reach the permanent batteries of Monte Pocivalo. Here meet the yellow markers of path D of Alta Val Torre and also the classic white-red ones that will guide us for the entire loop. Proceed then on trail northwestwards immediately entering the forest where proceed at altitude on terrain still scattered with rocky outcrops. After passing a large doline (sign), quickly exit onto the plateau overlooking the Faro monument and the fortress of Monte Lonza, whose restoration was completed in 2008. The panorama opening onto the plain invites a moment of pause to appreciate the details that on clear days extend to the distant Piancavallo group. Now resume the asphalted road towards Villanova, until the signs invite to turn left. The track, with varied path, follows the curves of this slope gradually losing altitude in the forest. Pass a ruin near a centuries-old fir to finally join a mule track leading to the Dolina hamlet (655 m). Following the main road exit the village near an inn keeping right on asphalt, reaching the small cemetery of Villanova and our parking.
