In September 2011 Maja and I spent a nice weekend in Log pod Mangartom. On Saturday 10.9. we climbed Mangart, on Sunday 11.9. with Sv. Višarij to Kamnitega Lovca. Both tours were nice. On Saturday the large number of people on the path to Mangart and the 'party' at the summit (2679 m) bothered me a bit. Otherwise the path is not difficult, 2 hours hike. We took the Italian path, much easier than the Slovenian one requiring much climbing and self-belaying (haven't invested in kits yet). Since you drive to Mangart saddle (2055 m) and Italian path is undemanding, the tour is popular. Views beautiful (Lakes of Fusine, Alps). In the evening we went for drinks, celebrated Maja's birthday a bit and met a local with accordion, drank and sang late into the night.
