Description: Today, as a mountain enthusiast, you simply had to get out into nature. For us, it was to Birkenstein near Fischbachau. At the hiking parking lot, we start our tour towards Kesselalm (1,285 m). Over wide forest paths, it takes about 1 hour up to the alm. Shortly after the alm, we keep right to the 1,500 m high Schweinsberg. The wide path soon turns into a narrower trail. After rain, the path here is partly very muddy. Before the final spurt, the great view of Wendelstein opens up. After a total of 2 hours, we stand on the summit and enjoy the great panoramic view of Schliersee and Chiemsee as well as the mountains Breitenstein, Bockstein, Great and Little Traithen, and even in the distance the highest mountain in Austria, Großglockner. For the descent, we cross the summit and descend towards the north. The path down here is somewhat narrower and steeper than the ascent path. Unfortunately, a bit muddy towards the end. Shortly after the muddy section, we reach the forest road again, which leads us back to Kesselalm. Here we stop for a break and enjoy the great October weather. Simply brilliant.
