Description: Today we visited the northern side of Medvednica and Horvat's stairs. Those five hundred stairs were built and partly carved into the stone by Vladimir Horvat who, as a soldier in World War I, visited many European mountain battlefields, from the Carpathians and High Tatras to the Dolomites and Julian Alps where it surely wasn't easy for him. However, Horvat fell in love with the mountains and later, after World War II, began building this beautiful path, arranged a small cave and a picnic spot by the stream. This part of Medvednica is very interesting because it is rocky and quite reminiscent of Velebit.
