Description:
In Pieve di Bono (Valle del Chiese – Trento) we follow the sign for 'Forte Carriola' and shortly after leave the car at 'Disperata' (1148 m – 9:00). Walking an old Austrian military road (now asphalted) we reach 'Malga Ringia' (1398 m – 9:30) and via trail (constant gradient, except a short detour for landslide), we pass 'Pozza del Cadria' and not far 'Malga Cadria' (1914 m – 11:00). The surrounding area still shows signs of the 'Great War' 1915/1918: trenches, shelters and even a (former) military cemetery. The 'Monte Cadria' (2254 m) was an important defensive node of the Austro-Hungarian front. The ascent is not very demanding, although some sections are now equipped with fixed ropes. Thus at exactly 11:00 we are at the summit, where fog rises from the 'Lago di Ledro' side, while good visibility to the west allows sighting of 'Carè Alto' and 'Re di Castello'.
