Description: November 17, 2012, hike to Monte Giove by the Este Section of the Italian Alpine Club. Beautiful hike in a little frequented area to Monte Giove (Ciòve for locals) in the Novegno mountain group, extending between Val Pòsina to the north and Val Leògra to the south. The hike follows the paths of the Great War, numerous remains of rock fortifications, artifacts and trenches built during the conflict by Italian soldiers to defend the Venetian plain behind, coveted and long dreamed of by the Austro-Hungarian military leaders. For this reason the places were heavily involved in the first conflict, also because close to the front line.
