Beautiful itinerary always overlooked because it seemed too forested with scarce opportunities for open views. Instead, I had to reconsider thanks to the stunning descent on the Trincee trail, which offers sufficiently broad glimpses to admire the Upper Lake Como basin and surrounding mountains. We start just above Dervio where, on the road to Valvarrone, there are some free parking spaces. Climb on asphalt with gentle gradient. We follow signs for Vestreno, Sueglio, Loco, Tocco. At about 1100m, on the right we meet the dirt road that takes us east towards Subiale; at the junction, left on moderate 10% slope towards Monte Lavadee 1350m and up to 1460m at Roccoli Lorla. From here, left on the dirt mule track with somewhat uneven surface, but the modest gradient helps, and we reach the old trenches where the panorama opens wonderfully on the Upper Lake, Lower Valtellina, and Valchiavenna.
