Description:
13-02-2022: We start at the height of Malga Doc (865 m). We are on the border of the provinces of Treviso and Belluno and looking west we can guess the development of the entire walk. We notice a post with the code TV1 (Altavia Prealpi Trevigiane), here trail 212 begins. So we start along the panoramic meadow, parallel to a white gravel road just below. We head for the first wooded rise, skirt a pond and barbed fence following the track that becomes more marked and the first white-red markers appear. Steep sections are stepped also to preserve the otherwise friable trail. Trenches grooves are everywhere highlighting the complicated logistics of these war works. We cross a first transverse belt encircling the height, others follow even restored, now close to the summit of Castel Cesil (1141 m). Themed panels illustrate the unfolding of war events. This stronghold was to cover the flank of Monte Palón and its cave artillery. We lose a few meters to a crossroads and then again on trail 212 which uses trench grooves for good stretches. We toil to the base of the huge cross, preceding the fortifications and the entire defensive line of Monte Palón. We continue the loop heading to Malga Barbeghera, located at the end of the ridge backing Val Nusie (1198 m), continue inside a wood emerging in meadows near Malga Doc.
