Very interesting hike both from a landscape and historical point of view.
Monte Piana is a mountain ridge located in Val di Landro. Due to its strategic position, it was a theater of war during the First World War. The summit battles were very bloody and now it is an open-air museum. A curiosity: Monte Piano, the northern summit, was occupied by the Austro-Hungarian army, while Monte Piana, the southern summit, was held by the Italians.
