On our last day we drove back via Schwangau which was only a detour of about one hour. The weather was a bit unsettled but good enough for our tour to Neuschwanstein Castle. Thanks to Corona there were significantly fewer people here than usual and shortly after the Marienbrücke we hardly met any other people anymore. During the ascent we repeatedly had a great view of Neuschwanstein and also of Hohenschwangau Castle so that the effort almost became secondary. Overall this is really a highly recommended tour!
