Description: Easter night in the Slavic fortress VALY. On a low spur of the Považský Inovec in the cadastral area of the village Bojná lies a unique archaeological site, the Slavic fortress Bojná I - Valy. This fortress was an important economic, political and Christianization center of the Principality of Nitra and later Great Moravia. A multitude of valuable archaeological finds were discovered here, including a collection of the oldest Slavic Christian monuments in Slovakia. Today, the fortress represents an open-air exposition of the Archaeological Museum of Great Moravia in Bojná. In the extensive 12-hectare area surrounded by ditches and a rampart that still reaches 8-10 m in height in places, one can admire the uncovered foundations of fortress dwellings, a reconstruction of the outer fortification and a residential courtyard consisting of two semi-subterranean houses and a storage pit for grain and food.
