Description: ⛰️ Predná hoľa 1545 m a.s.l. 'the highest peak of the Slovak Paradise, although it is located in the Low Tatras'
The peak Predná hoľa located near the village of Vernár in the Poprad district is interesting because its summit is crossed by the border between the national parks Low Tatras and Slovak Paradise, so both entities claim it. From a geographical point of view, it clearly belongs to the Low Tatras (it is the easternmost peak of the Low Tatras), but since the national park boundaries do not exactly follow the geographical division, it is often referred to as the highest peak of the Slovak Paradise. Despite its name, Predná hoľa is not a peak of holo character, it is covered by coniferous forests that extend into the summit part, where dwarf pine joins them. At the very summit there is a small summit meadow with a low rock outcrop. From this place opens a very nice view of the High Tatras, Low Tatras (especially the nearby Kráľova hoľa) and the Slovak Paradise National Park.
