Description: This hike takes me to the core of the former Ratzeburg region, the Maurine stream. At a bend in the stream once stood the Maurinmühle, of which unfortunately only meagre remains are left, such as an almost silted-up mill pond. The mill had a centuries-old milling tradition (verifiable from around 1377). It ground grits for Lübeck bakers and in addition, a saw could be operated with the mill. After the end of the war, it was over and the mill together with its farm served as a recreation home until it was demolished in the 1970s.
