Description: The Church of St. Saviour in the village of Cetina on a wide field at the foot of Dinara is considered the oldest Christian church in Croatia. The Cetina prefect Gliha (Gostiha) had the church built in the last quarter of the 9th century near one of the most beautiful springs of the Cetina River and dedicated it to Christ the Saviour. At that time, Prince Branimir ruled over Littoral Croatia. Among the people, the church began to be simply called the Church of St. Saviour. It was built as Christian since at that time there was still no division into Catholics and Orthodox. The Church of St. Saviour in the village of Cetina on a wide field at the foot of Dinara is considered the oldest Christian church in Croatia. In addition, it ranks among the best-preserved monuments of early medieval sacral architecture in Croatia. At the entrance to the church is a four-sided bell tower, the oldest known preserved Old Croatian bell tower to date. A large medieval cemetery with over 1100 graves has been discovered in the area around the church.
