Description:
Ski tour on 24.03.2018

From the large free parking lot at the end of the valley near Lämmerbach (820 m) we follow a signposted forest road to Genneralm. Initially passing an LVS checkpoint and shortly after a barrier (Holler Alm). Depending on snow conditions, after about 700 m there is the option to leave this forest road on the left (915 m) to shorten numerous hairpin turns on the summer trail. Shortly before the saddle between Gennerhorn and Holzeck, however, an avalanche track (NE flank of Gennerhorn) must be crossed. After heavy fresh snowfalls or strong warming, this spot should definitely be avoided or bypassed to the left! After this danger zone, the first huts of Genneralm are reached, where we leave the forest road and head east with a direct view of our tour destination, first over dreamy alpine terrain, then crossing the south flank of Holzeck and descending into a depression to the foot of the summit flank of Hoher Zinken. From there it goes initially through denser forest along the marked summer trail of the NW flank of Hoher Zinken up, until a lighter clearing is reached. Along this we continue uphill. It gets steeper and the larch stand lighter. At the end of the clearing at about 1580 m we are in the steepest section of this tour (approx. 35°) and cross here to the left towards the east to reach the moderately steep and open summit slope. Along the NW ridge the last part to the wide summit plateau is mastered. The summit of Hoher Zinken (1764 m) with summit cross offers a dreamlike panorama into the surrounding mountain world.
