Description: Pal Piccolo (Pal Piciul in Carnic Friulian, Pal in the language of Timau, one of the German linguistic islands in Friuli, meaning 'steep treeless and shrubless pasture') is a mountain in the Alps 1866 m high, located near the Passo di Monte Croce Carnico, on the border between Italy (in the locality of Timau di Paluzza, (UD), Carnia) and Austria. Although it is a secondary peak, it owes its importance to the battles that took place there during the First World War, between 1915 and 1917; today on the top of the mountain there is an open-air museum where it is possible to visit the remains of the trenches and barracks used by the Italian and Austro-Hungarian troops during the conflict.
