Description: SUMMIT CROSS ROTE WAND / 2704m
The story of the summit cross on Rote Wand dates back to the 1960s. At that time, the Schnifners managed Alpe Hutla and spent the summer months there. Pastor Josef Kary from Löffingen, in gratitude for his return from Russian captivity and in memory of his brother Karl Kary, who was gruesomely sawn alive before everyone's eyes, built a Marienkapelle on Alpe Klesenza in 1953. Pastor Kary also wished to erect a summit cross on Rote Wand. Some mountain-enthusiastic Schnifners took up his wish and erected the summit cross for the first time in 1966.
