“The Path of the Silent Villages is a blend of nature, history, breathtaking landscapes and ancient flavors” state the panels encountered along the route, and it is indeed so!!! .. this truly evocative and charming loop itinerary takes place in Umbria in the heart of the Monti Amerini on the border with Lazio, far from the most known tourist destinations but no less beautiful and interesting… about ninety kilometers are covered on dirt roads, mountain trails and short stretches of paved roads and it is a continuous up and down that allows passing from areas cultivated by man to others still wild and unspoiled, centuries-old woods of holm oaks and chestnuts and other species, castles, hermitages and breathtaking panoramas… 13 medieval-origin villages embedded in the green, partly uninhabited, are crossed, and walking through the silent alleys it really seems that time has stopped!… but this Path is much more because everywhere and continuously local people are met who with their simplicity and genuineness know how to give you a good morning and a disinterested smile, available to help when you ask for information or advice, even offering a plate of tagliatelle because “in the village everything is now closed at this hour” or homemade sweets “because today is my birthday“… it is truly an experience of contact with the environment and oneself at a slow and natural pace, and it is rediscovering at every step those human values still rooted in certain communities but which unfortunately are now lost and cannot coexist with the frenzy of this virtual world where everything is social but only on the web!!!
