Description:
Short but heartfelt, the world's most important ski touring race ended on the last April weekend. Due to warm temperatures and increasing avalanche danger, the Swiss military, organizer of the high mountain run, canceled the competition in Arolla - halfway through the route. The ranking for the half distance from Zermatt to Verbier still counts! The women's team around the Spanish DYNAFIT athlete Mireia Mirò takes victory on the shortened stage. In the foreground are the enthusiasm for the impressive race, the excellent organization and not least the cordiality of the Swiss military. Around 1,500 three-man teams started at two times between 9 PM and 3 AM in Zermatt. The competition route leads up to over 3,650 meters at Tete Blanche, to Col Bertol (3,268 m), where the teams ski down to Arolla. On the distance between Zermatt and Arolla, 2,100 elevation meters and 57 performance kilometers have to be mastered.
