27-12-2022: The Guia mountains are little known, perhaps due to the inconvenience of access due to the long Val di Caldanè, but also because these places are sometimes objectively impervious. However, the places are of extraordinary beauty and really worth visiting. For a couple of years the Guia alpini have restored old trails alongside the better-known trail 1015. Our excursion intends to cover precisely these new, or rather old, trails. Start from Guia and drive via Caldanè north to a comfortable stopping square. The valley is crossed by the Rui stream which today is almost always dry. Take the steep Piè Rosso trail (from the name of the homonymous locality) which climbs the eastern shoulder of the valley, on the edge of Bosco del Madean. Past a forest road, resume climbing, this time along the 1015 Cornici trail until meeting a second road which we follow westwards, passing under some malgas, the first Brami recognizable by the splendid beech and the ancient overlying roccolo. Bypassing Val del Pavaron, where there is a spring, reach Staui locality overlooking Pian de Farnè and follow downhill a forest road that then joins trail n. 4. This with switchbacks takes us to the valley floor passing Costa de Bodol. Just before arrival, still a short stretch of 1015 passes beside casera Cozza in Cric locality.
