Description: The Sasbérc lookout tower is a special structure. It looks as if a Bavarian house rises towards the trees. Sasbérc is the highest point of Cserhát (466 meters) from where a picturesque panorama unfolds. The tower was built at the end of the 1910s in Bavarian style by Count Szigfrid Pappenheim at his wife's request. The two-part building served a dual purpose. On the ground floor, the count's forester lived with his family, and on the upper floor, mainly hunters stayed during hunts. From the 1930s, the building was neglected, although people still lived in it until the 1950s, after which it slowly fell into ruin. The restoration of the crumbling tower began in 2001 and it was already visitable in 2002. In 2017, it underwent another renovation, during which the worn wooden terrace was replaced with high-quality and durable larch, and the interior of the tower and its surroundings were renewed.
