Description:
Near the village of Potamida close to Kissamos in western Crete, one can observe curious geological formations, hills – mainly composed of clays – with atypical truncated pyramidal shapes in this region. Their appearance stems from a slow erosion process due to wind, sun and rainwater runoffs. The lack of vegetation along the slopes has also facilitated their ravinement.
